We are Happy to Welcome You to Cascades, our Newest Property

Becovic Updates

In partnership with North American Properties (NAP), we have officially closed on our procurement of Cascades. We are so excited to welcome potential residents to the property in Tallahassee. We are happy to be part of the City of Tallahassee’s goal to create a thriving live-work-play-stay destination in the heart of downtown. This spans a huge and exciting area that we know residents will love including a two-block area on East Gaines Street, directly across from Cascades Park, Marriott International’s AC Hotel Tallahassee (opens in a new tab), locally-owned Charlie Park (opens in a new tab) rooftop restaurant, the Millstream apartments, the Merestone Class A office building, nearly 13,000 square feet of city-owned multipurpose event space, nearly 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, more than 800 new parking spaces, an outdoor public plaza, and a community-envisioned historical plaza. We saw an incredibly successful project in Cascades and really wanted to see it through. We are so happy that NAP let us take the reins to help the community thrive. We truly love Tallahassee and believe Cascades and the surrounding attractions will bring so much to the city.

We are also happy to be a part of smart-growth efforts which offer a responsible way for cities to protect more of their natural resources by keeping development within the urban core rather than pushing it farther out into the suburbs or other outlying areas. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “Smart growth development projects are compact and walkable, offer a mix of uses, and create a sense of place. Such projects on infill sites have environmental benefits because they can reduce development pressure on outlying areas, helping to safeguard lands that serve important ecological functions. They also can reduce the amount that people drive, improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” We believe this project has helped support part of Becovic’s mission to keep our properties green-friendly.

We also love the rich history that Cascades sits on. One of the shining examples is the Leon County Health Unit. In 1939, the City of Tallahassee and Leon County joined with the U.S. Works Progress Administration (WPA) to build the first permanent home of the Leon County Health Unit. This symbolized a new, progressive influence on public health. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, the Leon County Health Unit had been vacated and left to decay for decades until North American Properties refurbished it in 2019.

We do hope our residents enjoy Cascades. It is such a beautiful property and we here at Becovic Management Group want you to be proud to call it home. As you get settled, we encourage you to share pictures with us! We’d love to have our residents on our social media pages enjoying the new space with us.
