Four Tips for Spring: Apartment Decorating & Rejuvenation

DesignTrends

After a long, cold winter, spring is that time of year to start fresh, and what better way to accomplish that than by giving your living space a pick-me-up? Spending time on projects that help make your apartment a more enjoyable place to come home to is well worth the effort. Here are some ideas to give you, your family, and friends an even greater reason to smile when welcomed into your luxury apartment.

Tip #1: Bring the Outdoors In

Flowers and plants are two of the best signs that spring has sprung. Giving your space some greenery to help welcome the sunshine is a wonderful way to give your apartment some added life. You can go beyond placing plants on side tables or other surfaces to adding them to wall fixtures or other empty corners of rooms. You’ll be surprised what you can find at local hardware stores or arts festivals in spring and summer. Unique hanging pots that can be secured to your ceiling in corners of your living space are beautiful and add something unexpected to the look and feel of your apartment. Let spring be the time that you add life to your luxury space with the help of mother nature.

Tip #2: Add a Splash of Color with an Accent Wall

Along with blending nature into your space, another current trend in design is adding color and texture to your living space. Color trends of gray or aqua promote a feeling of openness and fresh air; while nature-based colors like green, brown, or tan give a feeling of earth and nature which look great with rays of sunshine coming through your windows. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can add texture to a wall by painting some patterns; for example, painting vertical stripes in a complementary color on an accented wall. Get creative, and don’t be afraid to try something in your space you’ve never done before! Let this spring inspire you to try something new.

Tip #3: Give Your Rooms and Furnishings an Unexpected Makeover

New furniture has become more expensive in 2022, so this spring could be the perfect time to give your existing furniture a makeover. Think “everything old is new again” and get creative by putting a new cushion on your bamboo chair. Reupholstering is a great skill to have, and if you’ve never done it before, YouTube is a great resource for at-home projects that can save you money in the long term. Moving into a new luxury apartment doesn’t mean that everything you put inside has to be new. Save yourself some money this year by visiting vintage or antique shops to give your space a true one-of-a-kind look with a satisfying contrast of old and new. Don’t you love seeing a record player sitting on a modern side table? The contrast of that look can truly be a makeover in and of itself! Try it and share your ideas with us!

Tip #4: Allow Lighting to be Art

For spring evenings where it may or may not be warm enough to enjoy time out on the balcony, having lighting that is both functional and decorative is a great way to enhance your living space. Place some uplights on the floor on each side of your couch in the living room to accent your seating area, making it more welcoming to you and your guests. A chandelier is also a great addition to the main living room as most are artistic and decorative. Be sure to think about the types of bulbs you place in lighting fixtures as well. A room can look very different depending on the color of lighting used. And be consistent: you want to make sure a room has the same type of lighting throughout. Yellow bulbs allow for a warmer feel, particularly in the evening, while white bulbs are brighter and more intense. Think about what you want from each room and the ways in which lighting fixtures can make a difference in the overall look and feel of your living space.
